Kids Help Phone and Sobeys have partnered up this spring for an action plan called “Finding Hope”- that supports Indigenous youth across the county. In current day, the goal is to increase Indigenous counseling and crisis response by 20 percent, along with maximizing Indigenous access to counselling. Their goal is to help connect Indigenous youth to virtual counselling and crisis response programs one million times by 2025.
Deanna Dunham, director of Indigenous Initiatives and Equity Programs says that the program will include 37 actions that involves inclusion and building awareness services.
Dunham says that in 2017, Indigenous youth were in a greater need for mental health support due to having less access in their communities.
Dunham also talks about two other programs that Kids Help Phone offers Indigenous communities.
Dunham says that it’s important to support Indigenous communities as best they can in the work they do.
