Outgoing Thorne Mayor Karen Daly Kelly won a second term at the helm of council, prevailing over former mayor Terry Murdock, the same opponent she faced off against in 2017. She improved her margin of victory from her first campaign, garnering 69% of the vote compared to 65% four years ago.

She said that she met with both new and long-time residents of the rural municipality over the course of the campaign, and said that some were surprised that she made the effort to knock on their door.

Kelly said that for the next term, she’s focusing on keeping the municipality’s lakes and territory beautiful as well as improving the activities and play equipment available for children.

The full interview with Kelly is available below.
