The event is planned for Saturday, March 6, and will include a painting workshop, messages from local organizations and health tips from a local massage therapist. The guest speaker, Cassandra Patrella from Senta Counselling, hopes to motivate the women attending through her words of inspiration through the I Love Me campaign.

Participants will also be given a take home dinner and a purple rose to mark the day.

IWD celebrates "the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women" globally on March 8, according to the IWD official website. The day also advocates for gender parity worldwide.

The 2021 IWD theme is "Choose to Challenge."

The inspiration for the local IWD event comes from meetings with French-language partners who wish to work more and offer their services to the English-speaking community.
