Interior Health officer gives ‘kudos’ to Salmo’s handling of COVID-19 cluster

News of a COVID-19 cluster took over the small village of Salmo, B.C., for most of November.

At the beginning of the month, Interior Health announced a handful of connected cases in the community where slightly more than 1,100 people live. The latest numbers associated with the area show 24 connected cases, all believed to be connected to social gatherings, including Halloween celebrations.

It's a cluster that Interior Health says the village handled responsibly, following protocols and setting their own additional measures.

Now, mayor of the Village of Salmo, Diana Lockwood says she currently has no concerns regarding the cluster. In this interview, she addresses the community response and the upcoming holiday season.
