Karma Teachers is Canada’s first non-profit yoga studio and yoga teacher training school. It operates at 45 W. Hastings St. in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) of Vancouver. It offers scholarships for yoga teacher training, and by-donation classes to fulfill its mission to make yoga accessible to anyone who needs it.

CFRO reporter John Zee speaks with Andrew Fredericks, president of Karma Teachers, about the organization, its place in the DTES, the impact the pandemic had on its business model, as well as karma yoga.

Zee then meets with Richard Morrison who consults but also volunteers with the organization. They discuss how he initially came to be involved with the studio, the benefits he received by practicing and teaching yoga here, and how something like yoga can contribute to the wellness and peace of the members of the DTES community.
