As the Toronto municipal election enters its final stretch with early polls, an all-candidates forum gave residents an opportunity to hear their platforms.
The Ward 11 University-Rosedale all-candidates forum, hosted at the Cecil St. Community Centre, also allowed residents to meet their candidates and speak with them one-on-one at each table around the venue.
Each candidate was given two minutes for an introduction before answering questions.
The questions were pre-submitted by the public and focused on affordable housing, the environment, working with the Ontario government to spearhead new city-based initiatives and instituting cultural and heritage designations for Kensignton Market.
Candidates present at the forum include: Dianne Saxe, Pierre Therrien, Alison Pang, Peter Lovering, Adam Golding, Norm Di Pasquale, Robin Buxton Potts and Axel Arvizu.
Affordability, including rent control, protection against renovictions and inclusionary zoning were central during the forum.
For the rest of October, candidate debates are expected to be a mix of both virtual and in-person.
The most recent Ward 11 was hosted on Oct. 12 virtually.
CJRU reached out to all Ward 11 candidates. The interviews for the candidates that responded to the media requests are available here.
