The "Honouring Treaties Through Culture" session at the Treaty 6 Day in Devon provided information on how to work towards reconciliation with First Nations people.

Different sessions on treaties and reconciliation information by guests were presented on Monday at the Dale Fraser Arena.

Cynthia Cowan is the Communication Specialist for Maskêkosak Office of Convention and Governance. She says understanding First Nations culture and ways of knowing is key to reconciliation.

Cowan invites everyone to come check out the event at the River Cree Resort and Casino on Sept. 2, to learn more on treaties, culture and other departments will be there as well.

The Treaty 6 Day was the first ever celebration of its kind in Devon, marking the signing of the treaty on Aug. 23, 1876.

The town of plans to make this an annual event.
