Since 1982, Hollyhock Learning Centre has offered residential programs on a range of subjects, from music, dance, writing and theatre, to yoga, meditation, leadership, business and self awareness.

This summer, the organization is celebrating its 40th anniversary in operation on Cortes Island.

CEO Peter Wrinch says the past few years have involved some soul-searching for the non-profit. He says that by examining Hollyhock’s founding principles, the organization has come full circle and is returning to its roots. These involve creating space for visiting guests to engage in self awareness, staging opportunities for connecting in meaningful ways with like-minded individuals, and ensuring plenty of time exists during courses for participants to connect with the natural world.
