A group of Grade 8 students from St. Gregory Catholic School in Picton, presented their perspective on sustainable community/affordable housing solutions to the Prince Edward County Committee of the Whole on Thursday.

The presentation was part of the school's C3: Curiosity Creates Change program.

Students Paulina Mayall, Violet Dickie, and Olivia Bolton spoke on issues concerning food insecurity, lack of public transportation, tourism impacts on local industry and property values, living expenses, and the current living wage being unlivable. They then offered potential solutions to these problems including a local centric economy, better transportation routes, and tiny homes.

After the presentation, Sophiasburgh Coun. Bill Roberts was amongst those offering great praise to the students, and offered his thoughts on the connection between stable affordable housing and positive education outcomes.
