A new PetroCanada station, A&W restaurant and a Starbucks are currently under construction between Carlsbad Springs and Russell Township.

The small complex is being built on Boundary Road, directly in front of the Amazon distribution centre.

Rajiv Maini and three partners, Simmi Maini, Lok Vanaik and Naresh Vanaik, own RKK Developments and are building the station and fast food outlets, a project which they applied for approval for three years ago and which was granted in June of this year. They say that they hope to attract business from the workers at Amazon, who have a short work break and, according to Maini, have only vending machines to choose from if they do not bring a lunch or their own coffee.

IKK already owns gas stations in Cornwall and Renfrew. Construction here has just started and is expected to be completed in about four months, but the date was uncertain due to construction delays and to the challenges of building in an area with a high water table and slippery Leda Clay. About 70 jobs will be distributed between the PetroCanada, A&W and Starbucks, and once the building is up and the opening date is assured they will advertise for employees.

Here is the conversation on Local First with three of the four partners:
