Nelson BC born Sarah Schnare has worked with Larry King, Oprah’s network, and appeared on The Bachelor

As part of its four part series on Black History Month in Canada, Kootenay Co-op Radio’s Kootenay Morning current affairs show has been focusing on Black culture and chronicles in Southwest BC.

Sarah Schnare is a woman of colour who grew up in Nelson, the so-called Queen City, before heading off to a remarkable and genuinely star-studded career in the US.

The 45-year-old Schnare, who is bi-racial, moved to Nelson from St. Louis, Missouri, along with her brother Stephen, dad John and mom Catherine, when she was five.

She went on to attend Iowa’s Drake University on a track scholarship, then Georgetown in Washington DC where she studied media.

From there she ended up at CNN for 12 years working as a producer with interview giant Larry King, who passed away earlier this year.

In a two-segment conversation on KCR Wednesday, Schnare shared a glimpse into life with Larry and many other icons, COVID in California and the outright friendliness of we Canadians.
