The UNBC-based Prince George Public Interest Research Group (PGPIRG) provides residents with local, affordable, fresh produce through the winter months. The student-led organization continues to offer locals affordable, fresh, produce through the Good Food Box program. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light the fragility of the supply chain in northern BC making initiatives like the Good Food Box even more necessary. Prince George, like many other parts of rural and/or northern Canada, is heavily dependent on imports for overall sustenance, particularly in the winter months.
The attached interview was conducted with Ruth Byra, current Good Food Box coordinator. Ruth expands upon the purpose behind the Good Food Box, its development, and PGPIRG's future goals for the program.
