Adam Pearson, owner of Queenies Bake Shop in downtown Port Hope, is thankful for his community.
For the 12th year, Pearson - who is also a municipal councillor - is showing his appreciation by serving a free takeout Thanksgiving dinner for the community on Sunday from around noon until 2 p.m. or whenever the food runs out.
"As many people know, I'm an active member within our community and I love my community," Pearson said. "I also realize on a day-to-day basis that there's some struggles. I am supported all throughout the year by many, many individuals so I take it upon myself to support others during that time. It is Thanksgiving and I am thankful for what my community has done for me so I'm giving back to my community."
The lineups have been long in recent years and the food runs out. No longer does he have Thanksgiving leftovers to donate. The menu is a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, potatoes, dressing and vegetables. Pearson also thanks his Queenies staff for their help in providing this dinner to the community as they sign up to come in to help.
Queenies Bake Shop is located at 16 Walton Street in downtown Port Hope. Donations will also be accepted for the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank.
