The former Director of the Six Nations Lands and Research Office Phil Monture has over 40 years of research experience with Six Nations and its history associated with lands research.

Mr. Monture reluctantly started working in lands research in 1975. He then had one room and one assistant in the bottom of the former residential school now known as the Woodland Cultural Centre. He later went on to establish the Six Nations Lands and Research Office, that ran until 2002.

CKRZ recently interviewed Monture about those early days and how his work helped Six Nations launch a law suit against the Federal Government in 1994.

As the Director of Lands and Research, Monture is most proud of the people he worked with.

You can hear this entire interview with Phil Monture on Compelling Conversations immediately following the 5pm news and again during our best of the series, from December 26th to Dec 30th at 5pm each day.

More on this with journalist David Moses.
