There have been large air crafts coming into and out of Smithers' airport, but we haven't seen any new flights from our local aircraft company Central Mountain Air. Chris Gareau, our local journalist asked airport manager Rob Blackburn what those flights mean for the town of Smithers but allegedly they are simply re-routed flights from the next nearest airport in Terrace (when they experience bad weather) as well as carrier flights with workers from LNG and mining employees.
Currently, Smithers Airport is offering 4 days of flights but Blackburn said we can expect 7-day flight service in December of this year.
According to Erin Collins from Northern Health, the information regarding public health clinics in Northern BC online at https://www.northernhealth.ca/locations/health-units/smithers-community-health needs to be read carefully. As of Friday November 13th, people with last names' starting with A to J are welcome to come to local flu clinics, however, if you cannot make that date, November 20th, the public clinics will be open to anyone.
