Family Day is coming up on Feb. 20 and Elk Island National Park is putting on some festivities for friends and families.

Heather Doyle, Interpretation Officer Coordinator 3 at Elk Island National Park, said she is happy to get it "restarted" this year, and told CFWE what's happening at Elk Island during Family Day weekend. Visitors are able to go hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and visit the Astotin Theatre for movie screenings, artifact viewings, and more throughout the whole weekend.

The Family Day festivities have been hosted annually at the park but were cancelled for the past few years due to the pandemic.

"Throughout COVID-19, there was a pause for a couple of years. But we're happy to be restarting it this year," Doyle said.

There are a few new events for families and friends to take in at Elk Island on Feb. 20, according to Doyle, including new "ski trails" for visitors to take in, and the Friends of Elk Island Society will be setting up at the golf course clubhouse to bring in live music.

More information on Elk Island can be found on their website.
