An Embrun resident is calling on the Russell Township to increase public transit and daycare opportunities for residents.

Neeraj Joshi says he and his wife Ranjana Rautela both need to commute to Ottawa as they have jobs that cannot be done remotely and, because they have different schedules, they cannot travel together. As a result, they had to buy a second car, not an expense they had calculated in when they purchased in the area a few years ago.

At the time they moved here, there was both more transit and more daycare availability. Since then, daycare spaces have dried up and two transportation options (ride-on-demand P-R Transpo and a privately owned bus service) have disappeared or been reduced due to lack of ridership.
