A performance of a play by the iconic William Shakespeare will see several firsts as it wraps up its time in Elora this weekend with four shows.
Twelfth Night is the first to perform on a new stage, which Deb Stanson, director and president of the Elora Community Theatre and the Twelfth Night production, has enjoyed getting to be a part of. The pavilion Twelfth Night will be performed on just opened for use in June.
"We are the inaugural performance on the new space at the Elora Centre for the Arts on their new outdoor pavilion which has been wonderful," Stanson said.
"We've really enjoyed performing there and not in the bush like we did at Bissell Park, so it's been a great experience that way," she added.
That’s not the only first involved: the production also boasts the largest musical crew Stanson has been a part of.
"We've had one lone musician. This is the first time we've had a group of musicians. We're very fortunate," Stanson explained.
"Aaron Moffit, who is an incredible musician who's been our musical director has formed this incredible group of people and they just play beautifully together. It's worth coming just to hear the music," she added.
The play, with loads of comedic value and themes of love and drama, according to Stanson, tells the Victorian-era story of shipwrecked siblings.
Stanson says Elora is her "passion" and she feels honoured to be able to stage a performance at the new pavilion.
She added there’s a unique atmosphere when performing outside that her and the cast truly enjoy.
Tickets and show times are available on the Elora Centre for the Arts website, or pay cash at the door.
