The 9th annual Soroptimist International Secondary School Girls Event “Dream It * Be It” is planned for Feb. 25 in Paris, Ontario.

The local Soroptimist International event is put on by the Grand Erie chapter that encompasses the Six Nations, Brant, Brantford and the Norfolk area. This year’s theme is “Surviving and thriving” and hopes to empower high school girls.

Dream It * Be It Co-chairs Laurie Cappe and Liaison Maxine Lean say the all day event is about helping girls with career goals and life skills. It aims to help girls in secondary school facing obstacles to their future success and provides them with access to professional role models, career education and resources to help live their dreams.

They also have an ongoing campaign for the collection of feminine products that are distributed to local schools by Six Nations partners such as Ganohkwasra Family Assault Support Services.
