Toki Bap Café in Manson's Hall is bringing back monthly dinners under the catchy name of "ACDC," which stands for "A Community Dinner Club." Kicking things off will be a Lunar New Year menu on Tuesday, Feb. 1 to celebrate the Year of the Tiger.

Toki Bap owner Sujon (aka Susan John) began the community meal tradition about five years ago as a response to interpersonal conflict and division happening on the island at the time. Her funding comes from seed grants, most recently MicroGrants for Neighbours in partnership with the Cortes Community Health Association. The dinners are offered by donation, with the proceeds cycling into the next community meal.

The menu for Feb. 1—served 5-8 p.m.—will include Chinese must-have traditional foods like dumplings and noodles. The event is also in need of volunteers (who will work in exchange for a complimentary meal). To make a reservation or to volunteer, contact Sujon via 250-935-6665 or email at toki8cafe@gmail.com.
