Doctors and nurses host rally for climate change

Doctors for Planetary Health, a grassroots group of activist physicians, is organizing a climate rally in front of the B.C. legislature on Nov. 4. Code Red’ for B.C.' is the first rally of its kind.

Dr. Maura Brown is a Vancouver-based physician and an organizer for the event. She describes, “more severe forest fire seasons...and this causes a lot of problems for people that already have breathing difficulties,...and COPD, which is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It also can exacerbate heart problems.”

But Dr. Brown refuses to give up.

“It’s not too late. We can’t give up, everyone can do their little bits, and then we’ll all put our pressure on the politicians and things will get better," she said.
