Hannah Griffin is one month into her adventure of paddling the entire Columbia River, from Canal Flats all the way to Astoria, Oregon where the mighty river enters the Pacific Ocean.

Here's an update from her motel room in Pateros, Washington. She's feeling worn out, and taking a two-day rest, after paddling through wildfire smoke and having adventures which include pitching her tent next to a herd of cattle.

Griffin's portaged around five dams so far: Mica, Revelstoke, Hugh Keenleyside, Grand Coulee — which is the biggest producer of hydroelectricity in the U.S.A., and the Chief Joseph dam.

She's paddled the five massive reservoirs created by the dams. When we last spoke to her she was about to paddle Arrow Lakes, the reservoir created by the Keenleyside dam near Castlegar.
