A positive case of COVID-19 in the Mount Allison community was announced on Jan. 21 by Director of Wellness and Accessibility Anne Comfort.

Students and staff of the university were alerted by email that a person who lived off-campus tested positive, but had been self-isolating alone throughout the duration of their time in Sackville.

CHMA was able to get a hold of Comfort to go over the details of the case, to confirm that it does not pose a significant threat to the general public due to its isolated nature.

Comfort was unable to confirm whether the person was tested during one of Mount Allison’s rounds of COVID-19 testing.

But she did confirm that the person had travelled into New Brunswick from out-of-province. They began self-isolating upon their arrival in New Brunswick.

The person was asymptomatic at the time of the diagnosis, and public health is checking on them every day.

As of today, Mount Allison has no new cases to report.
