The United Way’s 2022 Day of Caring for the region was in full swing on Thursday as 150 volunteers from 18 businesses across the region took on 25 projects at not-for-profit organizations.

This included a team of around a dozen from Fairstone Financial Group helping to scrub walls, cabinets, and exuberantly paint the Picton United Church Foodbank. This was much needed work for the foodbank as it does not usually have the time or the volunteers to complete it.

Jennifer Smith, Community Relations Coordinator with United Way Hastings & Prince Edward, remarked that it was a record-breaking year in terms of participation because lots of workplaces are anxious to get back into their communities to help out. As well, a Day of Caring team from Magna Auto Systems were in Demorestville assisting the Sexual Assault Centre.
