After a lull of more than four months, a new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed on the Iles-de-la-Madeleine in a report from the regional public health department (CISSS).

The prevention officer of the CISSS des Iles, Dr. Marianne Papillon, says this is proof that the virus is circulating at all times and it is essential to respect the various prevention instructions.

For confidentiality reasons, the CISSS des Iles is content to say that the investigation is underway and that all individuals who have been in close contact with an affected person will be called, invited to place themselves in isolation and then to go and get themselves tested.

Dr. Papillon reiterates the importance of paying attention to flu-like symptoms and staying at home in the presence of them.

A self-assessment guide is also available online.

She also says that the time for a result is rapid, hence the importance of respecting self-isolation while awaiting the results.
