Six Nations Housing (SN Housing) says some roads still need to be named in the Harold Road development within the village of Ohsweken.

SN Housing is hoping to move tenants into the development by Jan. 2024 but says the roads must be named to avoid confusion if an emergency situation were to arise. Housing says the naming issue was brought to council in May 2023 but a decision still hasn't been made.

SN Housing Acting Director, Lily-Anne Mt. Pleasant suggested that the road names be chosen from traditional and cultural terms significant to the Six Nations community.

During the Dec. 11 Political Liaison meeting it was decided that Six Nations Chief, Sherri-Lynn Hill will work with elected council's CEO, Nathan Wright and Housing Director, Mt. Pleasant to make a decision on road names before community members are moved into the Harold Road development.
