For nearly 20 years, the federal riding of Skeena-Bulkley Valley has been an NDP stronghold. This election, the Conservatives and People’s Party of Canada (PPC) are trying to change that come Sept. 20.
Conservative candidate Claire Rattee is a former councillor in the town of Kitimat: she’s no stranger to election campaigns.
She’s looking to bring attention to the struggles businesses and communities are dealing with after almost two years in a pandemic, as well as mental health issues
“As unfortunate as it is to have an election right at this time, the silver lining to it is that people are ready for change so that is where the optimism is coming from, to hopefully see a change in government.”
Jody Craven is the People’s Party of Canada candidate, also from Kitimat. Two years ago, Craven ran for the PPC and received support. Craven says the PPC is the only party willing to stand up for Canadians during these unprecedented times.
Craven also said that although they had minimal volunteer support two years ago, hundred of people have reached out to help his campaign.
“People are switching from Fort St. James to Prince Rupert, Terrace, all along the line people are waking up and they want freedom back,” said Craven. “People are tired of this tyranny government, we want to flatten that tyranny curve, if you vote PPC we want to put Canada back on track.”
Craven is hopeful he can unseat Bachrach and build a PPC base in Northwest BC.
