Wednesday September 21st was National Tree Day, a day created by Tree Canada with celebrations and community tree plants happening across Canada. Locally, a 30 year partnership between Tree Canada and Atkinson Home Hardware resulted in the planting of 125 trees at Lemoine Point Conservation Area which completed a heritage section of the park.

Atkinson Home Hardware Design Manager Sonia Atkinson says,  “Like many Kingstonians, our family loves Lemoine Point and we are pleased to...help maintain it both for future generations and local wildlife.”

Home Hardware staff, volunteers and the director of operations for Tree Canada participated in the plant. Tree Canada is a not-for-profit organization that plants and restores trees in rural and urban environments. Atkinson Home Hardware is one of 30 Home Hardware stores across the country who participated in the tree plant. Home Hardware Community tree plants occur annually on the Wednesday of National Forest Week.
