The non-profit Southern Cortes Community Association (SCCA) held its annual general meeting at the end of July. Five new board members were elected, bringing the total to eight directors.

Secretary Cora Moret says the board wants to soon increase the hours that Mansons Landing Community Hall is open, as well as the services provided. She adds that there are plans to extend the days and hours the playschool functions, stage some concerts and activities in the main hall, as well as encourage someone to operate the cafe, with its commercial kitchen, on a regular basis.

The SCCA is also engaged in discussions with the Cortes Community Economic Development Association (CCEDA), which owns land adjacent to Mansons Hall, to see what other activities can be organized.

Moret says the SCCA's vision is for more engagement and usage by local citizens and visitors to access all that the Mansons Landing area has to offer.
