Cobourg Police have installed new CCTV cameras after reviewing feedback from the community canvass conducted in east-end neighbourhoods last month.

The new cameras are at the intersection of Brook Road North and King Street East and one is on Meredith Avenue. There are now 28 cameras installed around town and that’s expected to double by next summer, said Communication Coordinator Lisa Munday.

Cobourg Police have also just launched a voluntary Community Camera Registry Program for residents and businesses. The registry includes CCTV cameras and doorbell cams so Cobourg Police can learn where cameras may be located in a neighbourhood and contact the owner to request footage if an incident occurs in that area.
