Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club members Baylee Van Steijn and Jacob Hyatt competed recently at the Canadian Youth Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan. 

Van Steijn, 22, earned silver in the women’s under-25 division, losing 21-14 to Saskatchewan’s Jordan Kos in the final. Van Steijn will head to Australia later this month to compete for Canada at the World Bowls championships.

In the Under-18 Division at the Canadian Youth Championships, Hyatt, who is only 13, placed fourth following an 18-15 loss to BC’s Clayton Hui in the bronze medal game.
