Annie Pumphrey, a masters student in natural resources and environmental studies, at University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) elaborates on claiming spaces as well as what Inspiring Women Among Us (IWAU) looks like during COVID-19.

Inspiring Women Among Us is a series of events hosted annually by UNBC leading up to the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on Dec. 6. IWAU has been hosted annually at UNBC since 2015. It was originally developed to honour the participation of women in science and encourage UNBC, as well as Prince George community members, to engage with similar topics and progressive discussions.

Alongside Penína Sara-Lynn Harding, Pumphrey helped to develop the leadership resource base Claiming Spaces, which was designed to provide people from underrepresented groups access to leadership resources and tools online.
