City of Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps is calling for artists to propose up to two artworks to be displayed on eight signage kiosks for downtown kiosks and storefronts for 2021.
Helps, excited by this year’s successful creativity, says “creating space opportunities for new and established artists and illustrators is essential to fostering a city rich with everyday artistic encounters, especially during the pandemic."
“This year’s installations were wonderful and I’m excited to see what our local creative community comes up with next," she added.
The current call out builds "off the success of the Commute bus-shelter display program and the 2020 Kiosk Signage program," the city's website states.
Some of the requirements for the submissions include that artists must live in the Capital Region, proposals are required to be submitted online and artists working different types of media can apply, be it from poetry, photography, sculpture and so forth. Up to 24 artworks will be showcased at kiosks.
The deadline for submissions is Jan. 11 at 4 p.m. PST. An online information session will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17 and proposals should be mailed to culture@victoria.ca.
