Canada’s first commercially available electric boat, The Voltari 260, cruised through Kingston over the long weekend, as the first marine electric charger in the country was installed at Confederation Basin Marina.
"We've spent 13 years to get to this day...the whole objective of our engineering mission was to build a boat that will give you a complete day of use on the water...With zero emissions and no noise...recapturing the serenity of our waterways," Voltari Electric CEO Cam Heaps says.
Mayor Bryan Paterson says it fits perfectly with Kingston's vision of sustainability and leadership on climate action.
"We've really embraced electric vehicles...it's an amazing spot to be able to talk about the advent of electric boats," Patterson says.
Voltari Electric manufactures the boat about an hour away from Kingston in Merrickville.
