Camosun College is partnering with the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) to conduct a course aimed at providing education on how to make and sell handcrafted goods at markets and craft fairs in Victoria to recent immigrant and refugee women.

The course, which will run from Jan to Oct, will be of no-cost. Classes will be conducted in a hybrid fashion between in-class and online instruction due to Covid restrictions.

The main objective of the course is to help immigrant and refugee women acquire the language, business and communication skills needed to start their own small businesses as well as assist with their integration into the local community.

The course will be split up into two terms from Jan to March and April to Oct. In the first term, the course will cover improvement of english, team building, communication, the basics of business, product development and employment skills. In the second term, these skills will be employed with actual development of products as well as participation in local farmers markets and craft fairs.

An informational session on the course will be held on Jan 5 from 7-8 pm.
