The Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society held their first Community Soup and Bannock event of the year on Friday.
Bent Arrow has been putting on this event since the 1990s and more and more people have attended over the years, causing the event to happen more frequently.
They plan to hold a Community Soup and Bannock every second Friday for the rest of the year, according to Robbie Kaboni, Supervisor of the New in Town Aboriginal Welcome Service.
Kaboni says that with the current issues with rising costs and homelessness in Edmonton, this gathering is "important for the community".
The Community Soup and Bannock can be found at the Bent Arrow Gym, located at 11648 – 85 Street Edmonton, Alberta T5B 3E5. More information can also be found at their website.
