The Israel-Hamas war continues to claim lives in the Middle East and divide cultures across the world and a local event is looking to discuss the conflict.

Raja Khouri and Jeffrey Wilkinson, authors of The Wall Between, a book about the misunderstandings and distrust between the Jewish and Palestinian communities, are hosting a lecture at the Brilliant Cultural Centre in Castlegar on Dec. 5.

Khouri, an Arab-Canadian, and Wilkinson, an American Jew, co-wrote The Wall Between, which was published on Oct.3 in an effort to humanize and acknowledge the other side.

Khouri is the CEO of Khouri Conversations, a human rights and inclusion consultant, the founding president of the Canadian Arab Institute. Wilkinson holds a doctorate in education from the University of Toronto and works actively in the Jewish community and beyond on issues relating to trauma and the Israel/Palestine struggle.

They joined CJLY’s Kim Bater and Scott Onyschak along with Jennie Baron, chair for Selkirk College’s Mir Centre for Peace, to discuss the Israel-Hamas war, the history of the conflict and how trauma has fueled misunderstanding between Israel and Palestine for decades.
