International best-selling author Shari Lapena will discuss her new book, Everyone Here is Lying, at the Port Hope Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Lapena has lived locally on a farm outside Roseneath for the past two years. 

The author chat in Port Hope is presented in partnership with Furby House Books. Lapena had recent appearances in the United States and England.

“Writers spend a lot of time at home at their desk wrestling with their books so it’s nice when the book is done and you get to go out and actually see people so I actually like doing the in-person things and meeting the readers. It’s a strange career - you spend a lot of time alone and then you spend a lot of time full-on social.” 

A writer of domestic thrillers, some of Lapena’s other books include The Couple Next Door, Things Go Flying, Happiness Economics and Not a Happy Family.

Everyone Here is Lying has been on the Canadian best sellers list for a few weeks now, she said.
