Multidisciplinary artist and scholar from Saddle Lake Cree Nation Lana Whiskeyjack’s is an ongoing series, We Are The Medicine, will be displayed at the Art Gallery of St. Albert until Jan. 29.

The series presents a personal rendering of the nêhiyaw teachings of the Thirteen Sacred Moons.

The curator for We are the Medicine is Emily Baker. She says this is the first time Whiskeyjack’s work has been seen at this gallery and the first time this series has been seen all together.

'Based in amiskwaciy waskahikan, Whiskeyjack creates deeply thoughtful works steeped in emotional and spiritual significance. As the title of the exhibition suggests, her work is an act of recognition and gratitude to ancestral medicine, restoring balance and nêhiyaw perspective', the gallery website states.

Whiskeyjack will be talking about her art pieces on Dec. 11 from 1-2 p.m.

Virtual tours with curator will occur on Friday, Nov. 26 at noon and Tuesday, Dec. 14 at noon.

In-Person tours with the curator will be on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at noon and Friday, Dec. 17 at noon.
