In Houston BC, a community along Highway 16 better known as the "Highway of Tears", BC Community Response Network coordinator Carroll Airey is on a mission to help inform the public about Adult Abuse.

There are 80 CRNs across British Columbia and they coordinate responses to neglected adults (which is anyone over the age of 19 years).

The Houston Community Response Network aims to assist adults who are suffering from physical, psychological, emotional and also financial abuse, which often happens by family members (of the abused) or healthcare professionals. Financial abuse is one of the most common forms of abuse suffered by adults in British Columbia because often it goes unreported by the victim (who might not know it's happening to them).

The BC CRN has two signature programs: It’s Not Right! – Neighbours, Friends and Families and Gatekeeper. These programs are designed to educate community members and provide outreach on the topic of adult abuse, neglect and self-neglect prevention.

Currently these programs are being delivered as free, virtual outreach programming to the general public and essential workers.
