Megan Mitton, MLA for the Memramcook-Tantramar riding, was re-elected in September with 41.6 per cent of the votes.
Mitton has been MLA through 2020, the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, a snap election and the near closure of overnight services at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
Mitton explains why her Aboriginal Languages Bill has stalled, the impact of climate change on local wells, why she believes healthcare workers are undervalued in New Brunswick, among other issues relevant to the Memramcook-Tantramar riding.
The full year in review interview is available here:
Mitton is concerned that New Brunswick healthcare workers are not only undervalued, but also underpaid.
She says "we have health care providers who've been working through the pandemic looking at having a year without any raise."
She credits "this type of approach" to the current Conservative majority conservative government, and went on to say that Conservative Premier Blaine Higgs's goal is to "not spend one more penny," in favour of lowering debt.
"This type of approach is absolutely unacceptable. We need to fight back against that," Mitton said.
