A proposal asking Mayor Serge Newberry to step down from office temporarily

During the most recent municipal meeting of Île-du-Grand-Calumet, Councilor Martin Bertrand submitted a proposal asking Mayor Serge Newberry to step down from his duties temporarily, the time of the investigation and proceedings to be the Municipal Commission of Quebec, given that he believes that the mayor behaved inappropriately.

According to the draft minutes to be approved at the next meeting, Councilor Mario Bérard and Councilor Mona Donnelly supported Councilor Bertrand’s opinion. Mayor Serge Newberry has indicated that he intends to stay in office and continue to serve his people.

It is mentioned that the council accepts Mayor Newberry’s decision and that everyone is once again making a commitment to work as a team by the end of the term. More information is available in the draft Minutes of the February 8 meeting.
