Why a local student wants better coverage for people with diabetes. Sophia Orth, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student spoke with CIVL on why she is advocating for better health care for individuals diagnosed with diabetes. She has been advocating for as long as she can remember. She says that she is advocating for all people with diabetes to have access to a device called CGM and FGMs which are constant glucose monitors devices that monitor blood sugar levels. Sophia says that insurance should cover the cost of glucose monitors for every Canadian diagnosed with diabetes. Ms. Orth has met with politicians on all levels of government trying to advocate for a change so the government can cover the cost of glucose monitors.
