Prince Edward County council passed bylaw changes for the local taxi and limousine industry on June 7.

These included a 10 per cent increase in fares and a change in frequency of the previously annual Vulnerable Sector screening requirement to every other year, coupled with the retention of the annual Level 1 Criminal Record Check requirement.

These changes are meant to ease the regulatory costs on the local taxi industry, which has been ailing since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
