After two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, local schools may be returning to regular operations. Stan Peterson, an Abbotsford school trustee, told CIVL how the school district managed to navigate the past two years and waves of the pandemic by following public health guidance.
“We’ve been fortunate enough to have great advice from our provincial health officer and local health officer from Fraser Health,” Peterson says.
He says British Columbia should be proud of the fact that the province were one of the few Canadian regions that lost a minimal amount of in-class learning.
"Overall, we’ve faired well compared to other provinces,” adds Peterson.
Having said that, Peterson mentioned that students still had to deal with cohorts, physical distancing requirements and masking mandates in schools.
