Cortes Island gardeners can bring their saved seeds to the Whaletown Garden Centre this Sunday, Mar. 20, 11 am - 2:30 pm, to exchange with neighbors for new varieties.
Organizer Chelsea Chernobyl told CKTZ News she saw people asking online if a seed swap would happen this year. A relatively new gardener herself, she was excited by the prospect.
"It's just such a great idea as part of food security and having extra varieties and species of seeds to share," she said, adding that saved local seeds would already be better adapted to this specific climate.
All types of non-GMO seeds are welcome and small envelopes will be provided. This is a free, outdoor event. For more information, email chelseachernobyl@hotmail.com.
