Toronto Mayor John Tory announces that the city stands in solidarity with Ukraine in the midst of Russia’s continued attacks.

On Thursday afternoon, Tory raised the Ukrainian Flag outside City Hall. Also, the CN Tower will be lit blue and yellow as another show of support for Ukraine.

In his statement, Tory reiterates his support for Toronto’s Ukrainian communities, who continue to hold rallies across the city this week.

On Tuesday, hundreds of protesters marched in front of the Ukrainian consulate – more rallies and protests are expected to emerge around the downtown core in the coming days.

Candle lit vigils are also expected to be hosted at Nathan Philips Square each night as the conflict continues.

An outpouring of support from several Ukrainian groups and communities across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) continue to emerge as more coverage of the conflicts circulate across social media platforms.

This includes several Byzantine Catholic Ukrainian churches – central hubs for community engagement and forums.

Churches including St.Elias in Brampton and St.Mary’s in Mississauga released statements condemning Russia’s attacks and are calling for protection over Ukraine’s sovereignty.

St.Elias is inviting community members every night to pray 7 P.M vespers named “Prayer for the deliverance of Ukraine in time in of invasion.”

In a media presser, Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie urged for more severe economic sanctions against Russia. Crombie said she is keeping in contact with Peel Region’s Ukrainian community.

Premier Doug Ford indicated in a press release that Ontario will donate more than $300,000 in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

More details to come.
