Local leisure organization Ski Pontiac has been busy getting ready for when the snow really starts flying this season. The group maintains 15 km of cross country ski and snowshoeing trails near Pine Lodge in Bristol. The group was recently named the organization of the year for MRC Pontiac at the annual Excellence Sportive Outaouais gala this past weekend.

CHIP 101.9 spoke with the group’s communications Director Ariane Cloutier, who said that she was pleased with the recognition.

While the opening of their trails depends on snowfall, Cloutier expected that they’ll be ready to go in January. Starting in the new year, the group has teamed up with Ski at School to offer free equipment and training on Saturdays to anyone that wants to try out the trails.

In addition, the group is planning to hold moonlight skiing events on Jan. 29, Feb. 19 and Feb. 26. Cloutier said that more information would be released on the group’s social media pages once the trails open up.
