The writ has dropped and residents of the riding for Skeena-Bulkley Valley will be headed to the polls for a federal election Sept. 20.

Parties are gearing up for another pandemic election.

So far, letters and emails have been sent to voters, vying for support in what could be a devisive election season, with vast issues ranging from pandemic recovery plans and vaccine mandates to climate change action to health care and universal child care.

Incumbent NDP candidate for Skeena Bulkley Valley Taylor Bachrach sent out an email yesterday calling for support and financial donations to support the campaign, writing, “I know most of you don't want an election during the pandemic, but it's out of our hands. So we're going to seize this opportunity and work harder than ever to share our positive vision for a fairer, more just, more sustainable Canada.”

In a Facebook post, Conservative Party of Canada candidate Claire Rattee wrote “It’s time that we in Skeena-Bulkley Valley had a strong voice in Ottawa that is prepared to represent us. Now more than ever we need effective representation that isn’t afraid to stand up in Ottawa and make them pay attention to us. I ask each of you what has the NDP done for us? We have had NDP representation in Skeena-Bulkley Valley for nearly two decades and where has it gotten us?”

Adeana Young from Hadia Gwaii will be representing the Green Party of Canada. It's her first attempt to unseat the NDP incumbent.

And Christian Heritage Party Candidate Rod Taylor will be back at for another run for the Skeena-Bulkley Valley seat in parliament.

The Liberal Party of Canada has yet to announce a candidate for the riding of Skeena Bulkley Valley.
