A BC nonprofit agency says the life science sector is playing an important role in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
Wendy Hurlburt, president and CEO of Life Sciences BC, told CIVL that from this time last year, there have been certain components of the life science sector that have been working on a pandemic response — in particular, innovation and technology that can be used should a pandemic arise.
Life Sciences BC works with many other sectors, such as academia and industries such as digital health, to collaborate on its work. During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Life Science BC collected PPE and distributed it to frontline workers.
Hurlburt added that the life science sector had been working in pandemic response for years before COVID-19 arrived.
